How To Long Distance High Five!
Просмотров 4934 года назад
Not exactly "no problem," but maybe "one less problem." Here's how to long distance high five: 1. Make sure your high- fiving forearm has exposed skin. 2. Make eye contact with your fellow high- fiving participants and make sure they're ready. 3. Count to three, and on the fourth beat use your non-dominant hand to slap the exposed forearm of your high- fiving hand, while moving the dominant han...

Tinte de Cochinilla en Chinchero
Просмотров 61 тыс.13 лет назад
We visited master weaver Roxana at her home in Chinchero, Peru. She spins, dyes, and weaves fibers into textiles that are rich with skill and symbolism. Roxana showed us how cochinilla insects are used to create dyes. Cochineal is the source of carmine red, as well as magentas and oranges. She changed the red dye bath to orange by adding salt from the beds of Maras. Huzzah, Chemistry!

Plastic Bags Upcycled into Nunchaku/ Nunchucks
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.14 лет назад
JenineBressner.blogspot.com I built nunchaku (nunchucks) from plastic bags. The "chain" is made from twined fruit bags (the kind that you find on a roll in the produce department.) The handles are thermoformed shopping bags, which became very dense and hard when the many layers of plastic were laminated together. I made the ends of the handles into two types of flowers: a rose on one side becau...

I sculpted this doll head (flameworked her glass eyes) and attached it to a servo motor for a larger diorama of dancing automatons that I'm making. Jenine Bressner's Soldering Tutorial
Просмотров 10 тыс.14 лет назад
One of our assignments in the Fab Academy (at AS220) was to write tutorials to share what we were learning. I demonstrated soldering components onto a step response circuit board that was milled on a Modela CNC router. My technique was informed by my soldering experience in silversmithing. This was recorded in the Fab Lab at AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island. JenineBressner.blogspot.com as220.o...

I just bought myself a beginner bead making kit as a birthday present to myself a few days ago, and your video on how to get my finished beads off the mandrel led me here! Your art is amazing! I was blown away by those chains!! You're right, the sounds is spectacular. I've been making stained glass as a hobby for a few months now because the colors are just so amazing; and it was really cool to see someone with a similar eye for color and business with it. Thank you for the inspiration!

@@JenineProvidence I find myself to be the most inspired when I'm making gifts for people or things that will be useful to me in some fashion. So most of the color palettes I've made so far have been with others in mind. I do have three prjects for myself that I haven't been able to get out of my head for the past few weeks ... But they're not exactly beginner and I only have a select amount of this pretty glass that I don't think I could ever get again, so I've been making things for people and gaining skill before I tackle them. But that's with sheets of glass in mind. I do have a two little projects I've made for myself that I am insanely proud of. When I have some more experience with my beads I'll figure out how to send pictures. I hope your day is going well💚🐸🍃

Thanks for this information. I am very new at making beads with less than 100 under my belt, I will take all the help I can get. I have watched your removing beads from the mandrel video and it also was very helpful. I hope I find more videos from you. What I would like to learn is how to pull the glass rod away from the bead without the molten glass stretching into long hair-like fibers. When I am wrapping the glass around the mandrel for a bead and want to stop I fail lol. I enjoy a lot of artists' videos but have no technique for the little things they may take for granted hahaha.

This is interesting stuff. I'm actually watching alot of glass work videos right now because I'm thinking of making my own vacuum tubes for a guitar amp, but i find that i often wander into glass working videos. This video is one of the better video/s because it's a very through walk through that doesn't assume we know anything about what's going on. There's more than a few glasswork videos that assume that we'll instantly know where the artist/craftsman is going with their project simply by knowing what step they're at and assuming we all know what comes next. After all that, the video has a certain ASMR quality to it, which i find soothing.
